Octocon 2025 was a hybrid convention
As such, in addition to our in-person activities, we also featured:
- A Discord server for socializing
- Zoom for facilitating workshops, talks, and socializing for those who prefer it to Discord
- YouTube for live-streaming panels and YouTube for hosting recordings for replay
What Went On at Octocon 2025
Octocon’s 2025 programme took place both in Dublin and online, with programme streamed from Dublin as well as online-only. As well as all our usual panel discussions, workshops, talks and readings, we also gave you the chance to join in hosted chats with other fans on specific topics, or sit down in a small group to talk to one of our attending creators.
- Cosplay Parade: Took place on Saturday afternoon.
- Saturday Night Social: Once again we had a Table Quiz in person on Saturday evening, and we hadn’t forgotten about our online attendees – we had a Saturday evening online social too.
- Opening/closing ceremonies: We had our opening and closing ceremonies online so as not to take up programming time on Saturday.
- Craft sessions: Our ever popular workshop teaching you how to crochet your very own member of the Octo collective was online this year, but we also had crafty sessions in-person, including a book-binding workshop from last year’s Guest of Honour Ruth Frances Long.
- And we also be had all our regular panel discussions, talks and workshops, plus you could chat with our guests in our Meet the Creator sessions.

Our Venue
Our 2025 in-person venue was the Maldron Hotel in Tallaght. Octocon was based in the Shannon Suite upstairs and the Arena Room on the ground floor.
