There are three areas we\u2019re looking for people to join in: <strong>Comms and Social Media, Publications and Art, and Outreach (Other conventions and Sponsorship)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you\u2019ve read the role descriptions, email <a href=\"mailto:chair@octocon.com\">chair@octocon.com<\/a> with your application to join the team, or questions about what a role might entail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Go raibh maith agaibh,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><em>Paul (Chair, 2023-2024)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Octocon 2024:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Comms and Social Media<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Comms Manager<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Duties include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Liaising with Chair to create a marketing schedule for Octocon 2024<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Liaising with Publications Officer and Artist on materials and illustrations for marketing purposes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Liaising with Programme Director on promotion of Programme items and on the development on Octocon Presents content<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Liaising with Web Designer to coordinate website content<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Managing the Social Media team<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attendance and participation in the Octocon Committee<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Reports to Chair<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Website Manager<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Managing the content of our website<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Liaising with Comms Manager to coordinate website content<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Liaising with website admin for any technical issues or new features<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Liaising with other members of the committee as needed<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attendance and participation in the Octocon Committee<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Social Media Team<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Duties include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Marketing of Octocon via social media platforms<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintaining an agreed tone of communications on social channels to create a uniform voice<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Responding to queries about Octocon in a professional and timely manner<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Reports to Comms Manager<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Multiple people required<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Publications and Art<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Artist<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Duties include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Creation of artwork for use in Publications<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Creation of artwork for use in Social Media, in a similar style<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Creation of artwork for use on Members&#8217; name badges<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Creation of artwork for streaming<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Liaise with Publications Officer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Liaise with Comms Manager<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Liaise with Virtual Manager on streaming requirements<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please note: Art is required for both print and digital use<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Reports to Chair<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Publications Officer<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Duties include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Creation of the Octocon booklet<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Liaise with Artist on the creation of promotional materials (i.e. bookmarks, posters)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Liaise with Programme Director on content for booklet<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Liaise with Guest Liaison on content for booklet<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Liaise with Sponsorship Officer on any relevant sponsors to include in booklet<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attendance and participation in the Octocon Committee<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Reports to Chair<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Outreach<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sponsorship Officer<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Duties include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Warm-calls to previous partners of Octocon for funding or benefit in kind opportunities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cold-calls to relevant potential partners for funding or benefit in kind opportunities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify and submit grant applications on behalf of Octocon<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Liaise with Treasury Team to identify the needs of the convention<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Liaise with Programme Director to identify areas of need regarding materials<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Liaise with Virtual Manager to identify areas of need regarding tech and equipment for streaming<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Liaise with Trade Officer on available space for Sponsors<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Liaise with Publications Officer on booklet to ensure inclusion of all relevant sponsors<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attendance and participation in the Octocon Committee<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Reports to Chair<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"247\" src=\".\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/02\/Octo2021RPGtransparant-01-1-300x247-1.png\" alt=\"Octo RPG\" class=\"wp-image-146\"\/><\/figure><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We\u2019re currently recruiting for some new members of the team to help us make Octocon 2024 as amazing as it can be.
